  8. JHave written to several Magazines requesting indexes of past issues. When H
  9. Freceived I will start the DB file on articles of possible interest to M
  10. Kmembers.  Naturally the article's title may not be a perfect indicator but N
  11. Lhopefully we can stimulate other members to comment.  I will concentrate on L
  12. J"A+" and with luck others will work on the remainder.   The file for this P
  13. Npurpose is on this disk and is named A.PLUS.MAG.INDX.  Others can use it with M
  14. Kup to six characters replacing "A.PLUS", e.g. COMPUT or PERCOM for COMPUTE J

  60. GIn reviewing the list of TAWUG Members it seems we all could profit by N
  61. Lknowing more about each other's interests, etc.   This would help to foster K

  107.   Spelling and formula errors, wasted space (too much "white"), M
  108. Kand too much space devoted to rather common knowledge are but a few of the L
  109. Jdeficiencies.  One saving grace is you can get the first issue on a trial O
  110. Mbasis then cancel the subscription in not satisfied.  For the $48.00 one can L
  111. Jsubscribe to A+ and buy two excellent AppleWorks references or some other M
  112. Kcomparable combination and be immeasurably better off.  For those who will

  132.   An impressive endorsement of this company and its K
  133. Iproducts appeared in the April 85 InfoWorld.  They specifically reviewed K
  134. I"The
  135. Advanced Business Accountant" and raved about it.  From reading the L
  136. Jreview I am led to induce the other products are also very good.  The bad O
  137. Mnews is that both BusinessWorks And the Advanced Accountant Packages require O
  138. Hard Disks or possibly two of the new 3.5 inch Uni-Disks.  The good news is: 
  139.      a. BusinessWorks is compatible with AppleWorks  <
  140.      b. The Business Accountant only requires AIIe or IIc 8
  141.         w/128K, Two Drives, DOS 3.3, and 80 col card. +
  142.      c. They have Demo disks for $5-$10. 
  143. Each system is of course self integrating with following Sub systems:

  172. Nprinted on a parchment type paper to the "Newly Weds" and their parents.  The P
  173. Ncouple's names and the required signatures are done in calligraphy.  A friend P
  174. Npassed the idea along and we made certain modifications.  I'm not sure of the O
  175. Moriginal source.  In using this for your friends/relatives you and they will

  185. Gbibliographic data on AppleWorks Books in print.  I own a few and will P
  186. Nattempt reviews in future submissions.  One which should be fabulous is TAWUG M
  187. Kmember Robert Ericson's new book from Sybex having to do with Notes, Tips, O
  188. MTrick's for AppleWorks or a similar title.  If it comes close to the quality N
  189. Lof his "NOTES newsletter" we should have a definative handbook putting most H
  190. of the others to shame.  See the DB file "AW.BOOKS.LIST for starters.

  209. NWelcome to TAWUG.  Enjoyed your contributions and look forward to many more.  P
  210. NI have only recently contributed to Jim's Willis' disks however have a number :
  211. of offerings in his hands which should be on disk soon. 
  212. NMy immediate plans involve some type of RAM and storage capacity increases to I
  213. Ga rather overworked AIIe w/128K, 2-5.25 in drives, and an EPSON FX-100 H
  214. Fprinter.  SIDER is at $595 through December which has accelerated the 
  215. decision date.   
  216. LAs I read your comments it appears SIDER with Pro-Copy has worked very well P
  217. Nfor you.  I have 150+ AppleWorks disks and have an uneasy feeling that trying I
  218. Gto put them on a hard disk would involve extensive reorganization with M
  219. KDirectories et al.  I also use STATE-OF-THE ART'S accounting modules in my P
  220. Nbusiness.  The SIDER ad mentions "partitioning" as a way to seperate packages F
  221. Dwith different operating systems, e.g. DOS 3.3 and ProDOS.  In your N
  222. Lexperience has this feature allowed you to have adequate seperation and has N
  223. Lthe partitioning caused any problems?  I have several other questions which 0
  224. seem to be within the grasp of your comments: 
  225.      Is it possible to attach SIDER and retain both disk #
  226.      drives for alternate usage? 
  227.      How onerous are the backup requirements using a  B
  228.      hard disk?  I see where many recommend having tape backup  !
  229.      to save time.

  231. JThe "Printer ON & Printer OFF" recommendation for an AppleWorks change is J
  232. Hwell made.  It has been announced that Lissner is working on AppleWorks O
  233. Mrevisions and I have a set of "dream" changes I would love to see him make.  L
  234. JOne drawback in changing this marvelous piece of software seems to be the J
  235. Hlimited RAM and storage for a majority of users including yours truly.  N
  236. LAssuming I had 256-512K RAM and either 2 - 3.5 in Uni-Disks or a hard disk, 1
  237. my current gross specifications would include: 
  238.      1. Increase the power of the Spreadsheet as a real  ?
  239.         competitor to the Lotus and SuperCalc 3a offerings.  =
  240.         More math functions, e.g. LOG/LN, Trig functions,  =
  241.         Macros, Statistics functions, larger matrix, etc.  B
  242.         Also would add something like "Auditor" and "Widesheet" 
  243.         or "Sideways." 
  244.      2. I use MegaWorks but want AW to have a Mailmerge and  %
  245.         Spelling Checker built-in. 
  246.      3. Add a Graphics segment and something like PrintShop. ?
  247.         Have the Screen and Color Enhancer features for high 
  248.         resolution. 
  249.      4. Add a housekeeping mode (similar to "Pinpoint")  
  250.         with: 
  251.           a. Timeclock 
  252.           b. Notepad ,
  253.           c. Calculator for WordProcessor "
  254.           d. Envelope Addresser 
  255.           e. Graphmerge %
  256.           f. Communications Window 
  257.           g. Typewriter :
  258.           h. ToolKit for writing individualized DeskTop 
  259.              accessories. $
  260.           i. Appointment Calender 
  261.      5. Make the integrations now requiring "printing to ;
  262.         disk" (SS to DB and vice versa) less cumbersome. >
  263.         Also have these "other" files appear fully labeled  C
  264.         on the disk file listings without needing to go through  *
  265.         the "other activities" feature. 
  266. KAdmittedly with another month of "what if" and "why not" dreaming the list M
  267. Kwould expand.  I'm sure others would improve the list and maybe we can get 
  268. some input. 
  269. LIf you can find time for some advise in the "storage device" area I will be 
  270. indebted. @
